Kid President Inspires Phi Sig

This past weekend, Phi Sigma Sigma held its second Leadership Conference of 2015. This weekend-long conference educated hundreds of chapter executive board members on the sorority's philanthropy, leadership, retention and engagement, and other important aspects of sorority operations.

My favorite part about this conference is the goal to inspire young collegiate members and alumnae volunteers to create positive change in the world.

Inspiring is exactly what Kid President achieves in his funny and upbeat videos. To kick off the weekend, Phi Sigma Sigma's current Grand Archon, Alicia Scott, played this charming video from Kid President during the opening session:

Kid President is from the YouTube channel SoulPancake. In addition to being absolutely adorable, he encourages viewers to make the world a better place. He says one line in this video that means a lot to me now:

Pretty deep stuff. This could not be more important for sorority inclusiveness and for everyday interaction. Making people feel important and valued goes a long way, and Kid President phrased it perfectly.

While I greatly appreciated the dance break that occurred at the end of the opening session, this video made me want to dive right into the weekend. Hopefully it empowers you to make a difference, too. You can follow Kid President on Twitter to read more inspiring quotes!

During a different leadership conference for another organization, I met the SoulPancake team. I can attest to the fact that they are an awesome group of motivational people:

Motivation Monday

So like so many others getting back to the gym, getting in shape, or losing weight is one of your New Years Resolution. Here are a few tips to help make this year a healthier one for you!

1. Drink LOTS of water!
Their is nothing better for you than water. Drink it whenever you can, I try to even do it when I am bored.

2. Buy some new gym wear!
It helps motivate you to wear it to the gym. I know I just got an awesome new pair of leggings and some sports bras from Target because they are having an athletics sale!

3. Reward yourself.
Go to the gym three or four days a week, and on the last day treat yourself to some froyo. It is soooo yummy and even add some chocolate on top and make it extra sweet.

4. Go with a friend.
Sometimes I know I love to go to the gym by myself but my friend Adriannah and I have been going together a lot. We are on the elliptical and I lose track of time when we talk, gossip, and catch up with one another!

5. Make it FUN!
Take a Zumba class or even go to a trampoline place like Sky Zone! Work out and have a blast with friends!

Workout of the Month

Don't get me wrong, I am not the skinniest... or the largest girl in the world. We all have some little improvements we would like to make on ourselves or we wouldn't be human. One of mine is my abs. I found this picture while on Pintrest and also heard about it while watching Good Morning America a few weeks back. This is killer when done right, but when ya quit half way through like me because your busy with work, work, and oh ya more work it starts to lose the point. I challenge you, who is reading this to try and do one of the monthly workouts on Pintrest whether it is squats, arms, butt, or even abs workout.

If your struggling to do it cause... well you just don't want to there are even support groups on Facebook for it. I am not kidding, and it is kind of powerful to join one. Everyone on there is motivating and supporting you every day of the month. If your struggling you can post about it and get the support you need to do those 50 sit ups or 30 squats. Please join me in starting the ab work out from the beginning, and enjoy the days they give you off but that doesn't mean you shouldn't excessive. You can even comment here and I will help be a motivating force! Have the motivation to do this & be a better you!
