Sorority Family Keepsakes

So you've seen a lot of decorated paddles, wine glasses, and pillows on Pinterest. But have you ever really thought about what you want to pass down to your future sorority family lineage? My own big gave me a little journal after our formal initiation filled with pictures of our family at each past initiation ceremony. Some sisters had graduated and some had dropped the sorority but all the same they were still a part of our family's history. To give you some ideas for a project to work on this summer or early fall I'll give you some do's and don'ts you should follow.

Do's:
1. Include your sorority symbols.
2. Include your sorority letters.
3. Use monograms, stickers, glitter, and whatever else you can to make your craft fun and memorable!
4. Pass down your gift at an appropriate time. Think about big occasions like initiation, big/little reveal, or an end of the year awards ceremony or senior will ceremony if your sorority has one!
5. Make  passing down your gift special. If you are gifting a notebook or a collage that is to be passed down write a special note for your little on it. Explain to her the importance of it.
6. Use this site, sororitysugar, pinterest, and other sorority blogs for inspiration!
7. Know that there is no wrong gift as long as you know your family and what it holds in importance. This may be a photo book for remembering the past, a paddle for something to display proudly, a decorated globe to signify your love of travel, a flag that shows your love for the sorority, or maybe even a mug where you all can leave your signatures.

Don'ts:
1. No matter how much you love food don't use food as your keepsake gift. Maybe use food stickers or shapes to decorate a gift but don't gift something temporary.

2. Don't leave anyone in your family out. Even if you favor one little over another or aren't that close with your own big try to include them either in making the gift to pass down or in the gifting.

3. Try to avoid things that are to specific to one particular point in time. You want this gift to be classic so it can be passed down. Think about the future!

4. Don't copy another sister's idea. If you can avoid using another sister's idea this gift will be far more memorable. It's always fun when different families within a sorority have unique traditions and things that bring them together.

I wish you the best of luck in creating the perfect keepsake gift for your future littles or grandlittles! Happy crafting everyone :)
